The North Park neighborhood of San Diego is experiencing a renaissance of sorts as new homes and businesses reinvigorate the community. While in North Park today, I took this video previewing a home that was stripped down to the studs and rebuilt as a beautiful, modern home. Enjoy!
One of the big selling points to this home is the fact that there are two units on the property. There is a main house that is a 3 bedroom 3 bath 2,088 square feet and a separate 380 square foot studio on the lower level. The studio has a separate gated entrance and separate yard space. This would be perfect for families looking to bring in aging family members or those looking to subsidize their mortgage by renting out the studio.
The original house was built in 1949 and in 2015, the current owners tore it down to the wood studs and rebuilt – with permits. You’d think that’s a given, but you’d be surprised at how many San Diego homes have been modified without proper building permits.
An expansive deck spans the entire east side of the home, which overlooks a canyon. Some of the interior improvements include new oak flooring, recessed LED lighting, and Caesarstone quartz countertops in the kitchen and baths. Exterior improvements include a new roof, aluminum dual-pane windows, drought tolerant landscaping, and exterior walls with a smooth-troweled stucco finish.
