Four Tips to Help You Sell Your House Faster

October 3, 2017 By Collaborative Post 1 Comment

Everyone has their reasons to sell their house. Some people want to move to a larger home for the sake of starting a family. Some people want to scale down because their children have moved on and got their own homes. Perhaps you just want a larger garden or maybe you’re fed up of your neighbors. With so many reasons that ultimately lead to a better lifestyle, you’d have a harder time trying to find a reason not to sell your house.

But selling your home can be a tough task. You might end up waiting months while your property lingers on the market, and no one wants that to happen. Everyone wants a quick sale so they can put the funds to their new home, so here are a couple of ways to help you sell your house faster.

Tip #1: Make your house appear nicer

Whether it’s giving your house a paint job or tidying up the lawn a bit, you need to make your home attractive to buyers. Clean up the house, de-clutter everything and consider investing a bit of money into installing some new upholstery and lighting to make the entire home appear new and in great shape. You’ll want to fix up any worrying damage so that your home is more appealing to buyers.

Tip #2: Don’t overvalue your home

We get it, it’s your previous home and you’ve spent a lot of money renovating it and you want to get more money than what you paid. It’s understandable, but if your home has been lingering on the market for several months without a single offer, then there’s a good chance that you’ve overvalued your home. Speak to a professional in order to value your home properly so that you don’t end up asking for too much or too little. Take a look at other properties that are similar to yours in order to get a good idea of how much you should be charging.

Tip #3: Consider other selling services

If you’re thinking “I need to sell my house now!” then there are immediate options that could help you. You’ll get far less money than if you sold it through a realtor, but it’s perfect for emergencies or if you plan to move further away and simply want to have the money as soon as possible. Perhaps you’re fine undervaluing the house because you don’t want to deal with excess paperwork, or maybe you just don’t trust the realtors in your area. If you need an immediate sale, then consider a fast sale service instead of going through the traditional route of listing it on the market.

Tip #4: Spread the word

Whether it’s on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter or with an online realtor service, spread the word that you’re selling a home and you may end up getting more attention and hits than if you were to just use a local realtor. This is perfect if you’re good with the internet or have contacts that could help you find a buyer.

Testimonials

"Gavin represented me in purchasing a piece of land in San Diego. No easy feat considering the shortage of available parcels. He was always attentive and extremely patient. I'd never gone into a purchase of this sort previously. So, I found his comprehensive knowledge of real estate and architecture and construction to be extremely helpful."
- John R.

"Thanks to Gavin's immediacy, tenacity, and efficacious communication, our dreams of owning a SoCal investment property came true. We were most impressed by his ability to be involved in the home buying process exactly as much and as little as we desired. His patience and deference to our specific needs and desires complimented both our search and purchase immensely."
- Chris M.

"I bought my first home through Gavin. He was very helpful during the entire process including architectural assessments, figuring out upgrade possibilities and estimated costs, as well as other issues when dealing in a sellers market. After one of my offers finally got accepted he even helped in holding appointments with home inspectors when I couldn't make it. Bottom line is Gavin never let me down. He always did what he said he would do and was always on time."
- Vinny T.
